Hi,

would like to know your thoughts when you have a perfect site with good ranking in search engines but with a difficult or strange site name.

What can be done that new site name will inherit the previous indexed sites, rankings, etc.

Planned would be that old sitename should dissapear after 1 year.

301 permanent redirect

expect to lose SE rankings, traffic etc for 4 - 6 months while the redirects kick in and have a plan going ahead to change as many existing backlinks as possible, especially the one that send real visitors.

301 redirect on server side.
