My Google backlinks were at 350 and now it's showing 1260 on many datacenters as well as G. Why the huge jump?

Interesting i assume there is some sort of update in progress although like you say that is quite a jump by googles standards.

No, because the hosted WordPress installation doesn't let you modify your theme to put the tracking code in. I know there's a way top add a specific page, but I don't think it works, either.

Anyway, to your question, I think, like PR, the backlinks in the console are updated at regular but infrequent intervals.

I have seen a change I had around 6 back links showing it is now at 77 its not correct but its usualy a sign of an update

There is an update going on. I have seen my links jumping from 20 to 170 in the google. Normally google is frugal in showing backlinks. This time it has started showing at least some of the backlinks.

I see huge jump of back links for all my sites, but it still isn't as accurate as Yahoo.

I have seen a pr change on one of my websites it now has a pr of 2 its only a new site had a 0 does this mean the update is over? my main site has had a pr of 3 for the last few months I am hoping to see a change

The backlinks will never show you all or even most of them. Google doesn't want people figuring out too much about how they work.

I've used my own site's stats to find a few backlinks that, of course, were not on Google yet. Kind of weird when someone in a forum just randomly links to one of your sites.

I also noticed a huge change in no. of backlink of two sites. Those website were only 100 or something backlinks now both have more than 400.

I'm wondering if they changed the "level" of determining backlinks that they feel are important in the Algos?

my main site hosting-marketers.com for the last 2 years had according to google 16 backlinks and the PR was 4, no backlinks are 838 and PR droped to 3!

Most important is that on google searches I'm still holding the same positions. (so I dont care for the PR drop.)

I had worked hard creating free website content linking back to SearchBliss. For the last few years The content has done the work for me.

I've noticed that they don't update reported backlinks very often, even in Webmaster Tools, which is the most reliable indicator. Mine have been shown as static for quite a while, even though I know I'm adding tens of links per day

does it have a good effect on your SERP?

This is also happen with me also For my site jumps from 250 to 1720. I am surprized. When I go for see all the backlinks, then it is not gone after 318 backlinks after that page google search pages are finish. It is faked or cause of google updation.
