hi,

everybody have a question on google sitelink, i have tried to pen down here to help you in this topic,

Google Sitelink - collection of links, automatically chosen by Google’s algorithm, to appear below the result of website, linking to main pages of your website. They are randomly chosen, although you can block any link from appearing.

Sitelinks Know-how and how Google Calculates that

There may be millions of keywords that are being stuffed in the Google search box on the daily basis. I wonder often, doesn’t Google get confused in providing the search results and it is providing some Sitelinks also. Now, what are these Sitelinks?

You may have noticed that some search results include a set of links below them to pages within the site. These additional links are called Sitelinks. The process for generating Sitelinks is completely automated and Google does a great home work before showing some particular links to the searchers.

Generally, these Sitelinks are shown when the search engine perceives that these are most useful for the searchers. It saves the searcher’s valuable time.

Now, the big question is why a particular link should be a Sitelink? There are some schools of thought on how does Google calculate Sitelinks.

One theory says that Google might track the number of clicks for different results. If a particular website gets more clicks for a special keyword then the website will get Sitelinks on the result page. This theory sounds practical but how Google is tracking those clicks, it is unimaginable.

According to another theory, the link architecture of a website may be the reason. It further says that links at the top of the HTML source of a website may have a better chance to be included as Sitelinks.

Still another theory guesses that Google may be using the Google toolbar to determine Sitelinks. This toolbar can collect a lot of information about a particular website. The possibility of a webpage being used as a Sitelink increases if it is bookmarked a number of times.

But, still it is difficult to speak concrete reasons as how Google calculates the new Sitelinks. The reason may be a combination of click data, toolbar data and other factors.
It is better to be properly search engine optimized to be listed as a Sitelink.

Why unimaginable? They put this tracking code in their SERPs so they know who's clicking what. If it's the scale you're worried about, by that logic, indexing the web would be
unimaginable. And plenty of search engines carry it out in short order.

No it isn't!
If these "experts" could manage a whole brain cell between them and actually did some real research and analysis they would fairly easily work out how sitelinks come about. But they would rather guess or jump to conclusions rather that actually do some "work".

The appearance of "Sitelinks" in the SERPs for a site are search word/phrase dependant NOT site dependant, as you may see from these search phrases.

dmoz

open directory

open directory project

All the above give sitelinks for me at least. However;

ODP doesn't. This is because sitelinks only appear for the top result when it is a "home" page.

So armed with this bit of information gleaned from the above experiment, we can go a little further and find a few more queries that bring up "sitelinks".
I'll not go into the hundreds of words and phrases that I checked to see how, why and what for, but there are three things that a site needs for sitelinks to appear.

In no particular order:

A well structured navigation system from the "home" page to the "important" inner sections.

Some decent quality "deep" external links into the same site sections.

Plenty of decent quality links to the site root using the same anchor text that the sitelinks appear for

Feel free to carry on testing and if anyone finds a contradictory result, let me know what it is and I'll test a bit more.

( BTW this might be another post I plagiarise and write up on my own site )

There is a liitle bit of furhter information...
Google needs to be absolutely sure that the keyword you are searching for is business related.

Scope Lending

Property Finance Advice

There is a tendency to have the sitelinks on searches related to the name of the entity and when a particular keyword appears the links are not there (even though the position is still number one for the same "home" page)

As i said

So a "home" page could be top for a few phrases but only one will trigger sitelinks and this is more likely to be the site name because that's what many people will use FOR THE ANCHOR TEXT!!
