My new site that is in the beta stages is getting very good placment for my keywords for some of which my site comes up in first place of the search some one the first page and some on the second page. Will this lead to a good pr score?

forget about PR unless you are planning to sell links
aim at gaining good rankings, if your site is ranking well for competitive keywords in google first page that means you got good backlinks as well. so you will see good PR in next google update

actually a site's keyword ranking and PR are two different things...
You can get PR if you have back from high PR sites. You can get ranking also if your site getting back links from high PR and theme related sites with that keyword which you have desire.

PR depends on number of backlinks. So if you are ranking well for a competitive keyword that means you have gotten a good number of backlinks which will increase your PR.

Congrates....its really great to have top ranking for your site on search engines so keep on doing SEO and building more quality links and do not worry about PR because search engine ranking is moe importnat than PR....
