When does Google update?

I changed my meta tags, keywords, and title yesterday, and its not showing up in Google. I did it the other day and it showed up that same day. Does anyone know how often they "scan" your site and update it on Google, and thus possibly change how you are ranked in Google? Thanks.

Also, is there somewhere you can go to find your PR? And does PageRank just mean what page you are on Google for a certain word or phrase search? Thanks again.......

Alright--one thing at a time:

First off, your page will be reindexed by their spider quite frequently most of the time, but if you find that it's not being updated, it may be in your best interest to resubmit your website. Just make sure not to submit more than once a month, or you could get blocked for spamming.

Second, you can find your site's PR by using Google's toolbar. It's available through Google's website, and you can turn on a PageRank feature that shows you the PR of every site you go to (this one's is a 7... not too bad!).

A PageRank is actually just a rank from 0 to 10 of how relevant your website is. It is compiled from a very nice algorithm based on how many websites with content related to your own link to you, in proportion to a ton of other criteria, including how many pages are on your site, how many internal links you have, and how many external links you have. The jist of it is, the more pages that link to you, the higher your PageRank. Of course, in the real world, it's always going to be more complicated than that, but it's a general rule-of-thumb to go by. Get sites to link to you, and your rank will go up.

You can submit your site as many times as you like but it wont improve your chances and you cant get blocked for spamming!

You can submit your site as often as you like, but multiple submissions will not improve the likelihood of your site being added or accelerate the process. We do not penalize sites for 'over-submitting'.

Related content isn't a factor. PR (the green bar) is just a visual representation of how many links (and of what quality) you have pointing to your site. The "theme" of the site linking to you is unimportant....at least for now.

Related content is a factor. If a link links to you from a related themed site then that link will carry more weight on where you will end up in the SERPs. PR is not "just" a visual representation of how many link link to you, because you can have 500 PR2 links linking to you and I can have just one PR8 link linking to me and guess who will have A LOT HIGHER PR. It depends of the PR of the page linking to you on how much PR you wil receive. If you want to learn more about PageRank I've written an article about it that you can read here: Google PageRank Explained The theme of the site is very important when linking as Google gives more credit to you in where you land in the SERPs if the link is coming from a related content page (similar themes) than if it's coming from a XXX site and your site has to do with ninja turtles...

Read my article... I think it's pretty decent and answers many questions people ask themselves in relation with PR.

What if its an XXX site of the ninja turtles? Do any of you know when / if google ever intends on updating PR again?

Perhaps this is true, but I have to see any evidence that supports it. On the other hand, I have seen plenty of cases that would demonstrate that related content is not a factor, at least not one of any significant importance.

We agree here. I said "PR (the green bar) is just a visual representation of how many links (and of what quality) you have pointing to your site."

Again, I haven't seen anything that would validate this. Determing relevency could be tough. For example, let's say I have a site about snowmobiling. On that site I have all kinds stuff of snowmobiling - parts, companies, reviews, etc. I also have a link to a bar that I stop at while I'm out riding. If people went snowmobiling some of the same places I did the link to the bar's site would be very relevent, but how could a search engine make the connection between snowmobiles and bars? I think they're working towards assigning theme based importance, but I don't think it plays a significant role in today's search results.
