I have been working on SEO for a few of our websites over the years and have had great sucess. One of our websites has been on the first page of Google for some very competitive keywords for a long time. For our best keyword we have been in the number 3 spot on Google for many many months. Lately, I have seen it drop to 5 or 6 and then back up to 3 or 4 but it keeops changing. Then, 2 days ago it went to 8, then back to 6, now it is at number 7 spot. I have never seen so much fluctuation ever. It changes daily. Is there something going on with Google that I am not aware of?

This site is number three for allinanchor for this keyword. It should be higher than number 7.

The simple answer is don't put all your eggs in one basket...

You can't rely completely on something you have no real control over!

Nobody can really stay on top for too long. Just remember that others are striving to get to be the first on SERP. Just think of it as an incentive not to be lazy. cheers!

It's a constant battle Authority sites are there to be beaten (albeit, when they get sitelinks they have quite an advantage and incentive to keep promoting)

your not the one who experience this, most of my keywords is unstable in SERP!

You are not the only one who experience it... It happen around February this year (I think).

This is not a new thing Google updating its database all the time by indexing new pages added on internet, so rankings in result pages automatically changes.

Probably your competitors getting there act together. You have to remember that other websites using the same keywords are also doing their own SEO

My colleagues told me that SE data center is changing frequently, thats why SERP goes UP and DOWN.
