I have this site on which i have been working. http://www.124resume.com
I have been focusing on keyword, "resume writing" i have been noticing some thing very straange. I visit my statistics every now and then and i see refering url from goolge www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=resume writing
But when i click on this URL i do not see my site there, infact it appears on 8 or 9th page. What is up with this? Can any one explain this?

Well, it is just being hopeful for making good name with 124 series websites. I would like to make 124 popular and help my other 124 websites along with it. I wana create huge network of 124 sites. Thats the idea behind it.

I've just gone and bought 100 variations of 124domains.com - sorry but your going to have to start a new project or buy them off me!

That article about why rankings don't matter is interesting, but I disagree. As my rankings became higher, I became more successful and made more money. The reasons are good, but they don't really apply in the real world, at least that's my opinion.

That does bring up something I wanted to mention to the original poster though, although most webmasters are friendly be careful what you post about your sites and what keywords you are targeting. If someone thinks you are getting easy traffic you will see 10 more resume sites or whatever your niche is the next week.

As for your question, i believe that the reason chris posted a link to that thread is that it discusses how rankings change so often and are unstable. It could be this, or your tracking software just shows you the search term it comes from not which page. I know that is how mine works.

Not many have got what Jill's article actually says. It's that rankings should not be used as a measure of how successful the marketing efforts have been.

Sure if you are on the first pages for a term that people are actually looking for, and more people than you are seeing the same SERPs, then you will get more traffic.
The downside of this is that the conversion rate will drop, and the CPA (cost per acquisition (of purchaser)) will rise, simply because sales staff (or you) will be dealing with more "tyre kickers"

Maybe it has something to do with different data centers...

I never bothered.
I had a forum by the name of Discussion Land, and it ws number 1 in the results with a common name like that, but I never bothered, wheter it ws on the first or last page, I still got the same amount of traffic.
