Google's official 6 years old today..

It was 6 years ago today Google was officially launched in Beta stage

Now 6 years on.. the webs greatest search engine

Quote:
Google turns 6 years old today in a birthday celebration that has seen much change over the years. On September 7, 1998, Google Inc. opened its door in Menlo Park, California. The door came with a remote control, as it was attached to the garage of a friend who sublet space to the new corporation’s staff of three. The office offered several big advantages, including a washer and dryer and a hot tub.

It also provided a parking space for the first employee hired by the new company: Craig Silverstein, now Google’s director of technology

Before google I used yahoo....wow that was some bad times lol. Yahoo....I mean come on, they have like 10000000 pictures on the front page alone. And i wonder why search engines liek altavista and lycos never got anywhere.....probably because they were a mess, just like all search engines (besides google)

I bow down to the Google....

I was a late arrival to Google -- not until '99, but clearly it has seized the market just as it became valuable.

I remember how I first came across Google..

It was during some lesson at me old school... They had like a few computers.. Half the class had to use these really old things.. I never learnt how to use them.. Something like windows Dos and you put numbers in and the line moves.. Crazy! Well anyway.. While using these new pcs we had to find pics of monkeys.. for some strange reason! and the teacher told us we had to use Google..

But then never knew anything about Google.. never even had a PC!

OMG that school was so crazy.. to be able to go in the Computer room you used to have this massive piece of card which had your Username and Password written on it..

But then I remembered Google like years later when starting high school...

Kinda funny now how I use it every day.. and wouldnt have even found these forums without it!..

Just one of my strange story... Believe me I have loads.. But I dont think anyone really wants to hear them

So the first thing I ever searched for was 'Pictures of Monkeys'

Google is the best search engine out there. Yahoo, and the others are very nice as well, but there is just the thing about google that makes it better.
