Microsoft is pushing hard to stop Google from teaming up with Yahoo now that the software giant has given up on acquiring the tarnished Internet portal. But antitrust lawyers and technology analysts outside the case don't think Ballmer & Co. has much of a prayer at stopping the deal from going through.
This really raises a question on their development ability.
No it doesn't! Microsoft and Google are both in business to make money, and show a profit for their shareholders. Microsoft is known for playing underhanded, and also for not always winning. Their lawyers and developers work in wholly different parts of the company, and do things independently. The lawyers are trying to hedge a bet; it says nothing at all about their company's dev ability. I'm not trying to defend the giant, but the truth is the lawyers are doing what they hope will bring in the most money quickly, not to cover up for their devs.

I heard a joke about a thousand lawyers marching through the streets in a war torn country, and a spectator telling his friend they're far more dangerous than an army.
Microsoft's lawyers obviously got this one wrong. They might be hoping it costs Google enough time and energy to go to court, that they might drop the ball. But it's more likely just a desperate, last-ditch thing.
The people at Google and Yahoo are both laughing like children over this.
What they are going to try and probably prove is a monopoly on actual internet advertising, which is very possible if Yahoo! was to use AdSense full time with all their search results. Only time will tell.....
