Hi everyone,

I noticed while using google webmaster for my site that it shows up, but the description looks like its based off the menu buttons.

The kicker?

I have another domain, which i have no content on and have redirected to my forum...and that shows the right description which must come from when i submitted it or something.

So the actual domain with the content has a goofy description and the redirected url not only shows the right description...but when you punch my domain in the search it shows up 1st in the results, the actual domain shows up third.

Is there any way to adopt the redirected url's description to the url that actually contains the content?

Should i resubmit the real domain with the same description?

*Notes: i have manually changed the meta tags, i have added the meta tag to exclude the odp descriptions, niether description is being taken from my meta tag for description. This is a phpbb forum.*

the description snippets are query specific, so when Google runs the site: query it picks some text from the page.

NOBODY else will ever see it so don't bother about it.

Just to clarify im talking about the description under the title of my site in the google search results when you type in my domain name without the http://

Id hope that other people see that, if they dont it means no one is finding my site at all...but past that id like to have the right description for my site, and to me its odd that google would query my redirected domain name right and the actual domain with the content by something different.

Im trying to find out why this is and how to change it.

Unless what your talking about is different then what i have done, this hasnt helped...my issue is that not only does my site, with the content, show an incorrect description...but my other domain, that is only a redirected domain name (no content on the host) has a correct description...but i have figured this out, kind of.

As explained to me on an SEO forum, the description is not static...in other words its not the same description for your site no matter how its searched, instead its specific to the keywords used to search for your site.

Until you have branded your site name sufficiently (maybe 2 or 3 years along) NOBODY will be searching for your site by name!

It it bothers you that much, simply put digitalvisions.org in a short sentence into your "home" page meta description so that will be shown instead.

It is indeed, but you didnt explain it, someone else did. Someone explained what you said above in simple terms so that i could understand it.
