Hi,
I've studied a bit of SEO. I came across a site www.businessmag.mu by typing Mauritius Magazine on google.mu
The site ranking 1st was businessmag.mu.
The site is empty, no content watsoever, only a header but still the site has got a PR of 4 and ranks #1.
When i do link:businessmag.mu, this site got a lot of backlinks from loads of websites. Moreover, i couldnt find any backlink of businessmag.mu on any of those websites.
Can any of u, experts, explain to me how is that possible?

Google love back links....In one point this rankings will go down, but I am also not sure why it still hasn't dropped - year without content....

It can happen rarely. I know one site with 0 backs links and having PR 5.

I don't think that's possible. It's not because we can't see the backlinks that they are not there. PR is generated by links so a site without incoming links cannot generate PR.

I had a Squidoo lens with no backlinks that started with a PR4.

I have a client that had a PR4 with 0 back links. The domain was about 10 years old though.

thats really possible.. especially when the kw is so unique that thats the only site who use or target it...

its not possible to get PR without any backlinks. regarding the site in question, Y! explorer does show 224 backlinks which is how the site got its PR. there is no content now doesnt mean there was no content before.

It looks strange as it does not have PR. Google interpret PR as votes polled by website back links. It is strange

Maybe these instances are exemptions to the rule--the Google rule. I often search online and I always find websites that are blank but are found somewhere in PR1.

Hmm...I guess the owner of the site did some pretty nice work to have a PR and yet the site is empty.
