I don't think this is the end of rewritten URL's. I think it's more of an end to hack jobs, and poorly rewritten URL's more than anything.

As long as you've rewritten correctly, I wouldn't remove the work you've done to do that

I cons of dynamic URLs I think didn't really say (beside impossible to manually remember) is that when you browse a website with dynamic url and want to show a specific page to a friend later on that day/week. You can't use the little arrow/suggestion of urls from your list because they all look like gibberish. So you have to go through the site and all the pages to find it again if you forgot where it was on the website.

All that Google is really saying in the article is that some people might get redirection wrong and if you're unsure how to redirect a dynamic URL to a static URL don't worry, because they've gotten pretty good at reading dynamic URLs. They're also offering certain advice on how not to rewrite the URL.

There's no reason to stop rewriting dynamic URLs to static ones. Static URLs are generally better for the people who visit your site.
