Hi. I'm a complete newbie at being a webmaster and blogger, so I'm hoping there are some knowledgeble people here to give me some advice and assistance!

Yesterday I checked in my Google Webmaster tools and found there is some sort of error with the sitemap for my Blogger site. I'm using the atom.xml as the sitemap and getting this message: Invalid XML attribute. There are 6 of them and one Invalid XML: too many tags

I haven't a clue what is causing this, why it started and how to fix it. Plus, its Blogger so I can't edit the sitemap as Google is telling me.

Any suggestions, solutions or whatever?

You mean just not submit a sightmap?

Yep,

no harm will befall your site if you don't have one.

If you don't submit your sightmap, some deep pages may be out of site of the SEs.

The best thing is natural crawlability. Let the SEs figure out your website by themselves. If there are pages that you want index and they can't find, then only a sitemap might help you.

I went in today to delete my sitemap from Google Webmaster tools and now Google says my atom feed is ok! I never changed anything. Google!

Why don't you just create a sitemap here? http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/ upload it to your server then resubmit a sitemap to Webmaster tools.
