A directory I co-own got a PR of 2.

This URL is PR 2: http://www.xeenit.com/directory/
But, this URL has a PR of 3 http://www.xeenit.com/directory/index.php

Is there a reason for that?

Should I make http://www.xeenit.com/directory/ redirect to the link with the PR 3? Thanks.

your homepage links to index.php rather than http://www.xeenit.com/directory/. also, you probably have backlinks to index.php instead if http://www.xeenit.com/directory/

Just keep in mind that toolbar PR means nothing, and "actual Google PR" means everything. For example, my site was a toolbar PR of 6, and is now a 3. Why? for selling advertising and not using the nofolow attribute, yet my position in the SERP's continues to rise dramatically. So forget about the "little green bar", and focus on traffic and content.

you should think about settin up a permanent redirect from the

http://www.xeenit.com/directory/index.php to
http://www.xeenit.com/directory/

or vise versa whichever you want to be the one people use.

The reason my homepage links to /index.php is because after the update I set up that redirect. but before it linked to xeenit.com/directory.

I'm beginning to think that google punished me for using directory submission and social bookmarking on xeenit.com/directory. Because that was basically all i did for it and didn't do any of that for /index.php

best thing you could EVER do for your site is ->
select Options on the Google toolbar -> More tab -> UNCHECK the Page Rank and page info box -> OK

and DON'T EVER put it back on again!!

I dont get that. What does Google gain by hiding your actual PR?

While those who wants to influence Google positions go around chasing PR, some people actually are making their sites more interesting, more functional and getting conversions from their efforts.... If you would have something (like PR) to keep out spammers and "SEO-s" wouldn't you use it ?
Now let me answer your question. If they give you right PR then it would be easy for you to check what to do to raise your PR, this way, you don't know what you did to get bigger or lower PR

YOU get the bonus of NOT LOOKING at something that is TOTALLY meaningless and then wasting time on chasing something totally meaningless!

So you are saying there is the toolbar PR and your actual PR. How can i find my actual PR if google doesn't hide it from you?

And I have to rely on PR and have to stay current with it because that is the number one factor people care about when looking to buy links.

You most likely have more links leading to your homepage than your directory page.

that's unfortunately true. As long as they will be people stupid enough to buy links, there will be people selling them.
