i am currently working on getting a 2 word keyphrase to page 1 in google.but seem to have hit a dead end.what would be the best and most effective move to gain a higher ranking.

You did not tell how old are your site if it's new it will take some time or if it old you should reoptimize your site

Do all the basic techniques properly and create nice content. you may also want to visit your competitor's sites to check if there is something new with their products and services or content. something that is missing from your site mabye.

Wouldn't your 2 word keyphrase be "Asian Dating" by any chance?
If you don't really know what you are doing, pick something less competitive.

The key is creating content that google will easily be able to crawl through. This means a clear hierarchy of headings, strong intro paragraph and plenty of text links, especially for the important contact. From there work on your backlinks, because the more people linking to you the more relevant your site becomes to google. Hopefully these tips will give you some help.

What if the links are not irrelevant, do you think that will increase the irrelevancy?

the site is 9 months old.i have been trying to gradually link build..as for content,i ad news topics each day,although most of these are not related to my topic,maybe i need to look at this.

I think that you should properly targeted your keywords and find out who is competitors so you can have an idea! and focus on proper link building using your targeted keywords!

You can try the tips also :Meta Tag Keywords to develop your site effective on the basis of keywords.

Less competitive keywords give you a lot more chance to be post on Google and create traffic for that specific kw that you're using... If it ends there, just get another kw, or do some research on based on the niche of your site...

You need to check your Google webmaster tools and find out how the googlbot See's your site. Basically you need the anchor text that links to your site to but in the top ten of that list. example if you were trying to rank for "Asian dating" your anchor text needs to be "Asian Dating", or "Free Asian Dating Site", or "Looking for Asian Dating", you get it.

Next you need good content, so when google hit your site the anchor text and content match.

Going off topic "most of the time" will certainly make it hard to rank well for a highly competitive term.

Problem is the secret is out.
Everyone or almost everyone knows what it takes to rank well with Google ie on page optimization and Backlinks
The problem is everyone is ding this so to make an impresion you nedd to do it more, do it bigger and do it better

create good content and get quality backlinks.

Seo based on content if you have relebant content you find good result

Tell me the term you are targeting and I'll tell you what you'll need to do.

For Asian Dating your site will need:

- To be at least 1 year old
- PR2
- + 200 backlinks to the page (PR1+)
- Have it on the title between 50 and 75%
- Have it on the URL
- IF on Domain name GREAT
- Have it around 10 - 15% on the Description
- Have it on H1 tags

That will put you on the top 10 under 1 month

If your site has less than 1 year, don't get over 10 backlinks a day.
Go fetch backlinks on diferent sites and RELEVANT sites.
