I know your going to tell me PR is not important, i know this. ~But i am thinking about signing up to a few of those pay per post things and PR is important to them as this is one of the things that determines what offers you can accept.

My blog used to be PR3 then it went down to 2 a while back. I checked today at various sites and now my main sites PR is now N/A! I thought maybe i had been banned from google for one of the directories i submitted to but my site still shows in google.

I checked webmaster tools today and my mains site has PR0 but one of my posts has PR3?! What the hell?

It's just proving how useless all PR "tools" are, and that includes the Google toolbar.

Nobody seems to realise that the google engineers obviously know where all these stupid tools are, and probably take great delight in playing about with the results they send back to them.

PR is nearly useless and with every PR update I hear such stories.

It's possible that google thinks (incorrectly in some cases) that you sell links on the home page (text-link-ads ?) and have made your homepage PR grey. Don't pay much attention to PR

Well, maybe it has something to do with how you build links for your site. Anyway, if your site still appears on the SE, I believe it is not banned. And PR is somehow becoming more and more joke often.

the only thing that your heading to pay per post is to build links and not because of PR itself, as long as your site shown on the SERP it is not banned

If you think that your blog/ site is banned by Google then why it still ranks in that Search Engine? In some other point, maybe there's an error in Google Management. Don't you think? Well, just my guess.

True...bigger the PR = more inbound links = more ways the spiders get to your site....crawling rate can be very important to index fresh content quickly

PR itself isn't important, however Keyword Authority is, and if the backlinks you obtained to get the good PR all came from relevant sites with good anchor text, then the keyword authority will be high. If however the anchor text was something like "Jims Daily Blog About Sunflower Dreams" then yes, you'd have no decent keyword authority and thus the PR would be next to useless (not entirely useless, but almost).

If your toolbar page rank is showing up as N/A it just means Google hasn't allocated a toolbar Page Rank yet. The real page rank could be anything from 0 to 10 in theory, but only Google can see it. If your site used to have a toolbar PR, and then went to N/A, then it's still in the process of evaluating some changes to the PR.

I have problem with links that google counts! I have links on over a hundred PR8 and PR7 websites!These links are not with a "nofollow" tag and google still doesn't count them!

Actually REAL pagerank for any page is nowhere near 0 even.

Going PR Down does not mean your sites got banned, Page rank is totally depends upon the good index backlinks, may be your sites have not good backlinks, try to make more quality backlinks for your main page.

You managed to get your PR to 3 at some point. That was not an error. You must have been doing the right things

Loads of people are stuck at PR0 or 1

Just keep posting, keep optimizing those posts and build your links

Loads of sites recently reported a loss of PR

These PR problems could be just technical troubles. If the PR results were not accurate, look at other aspects. And yes, keep on working: post, link, update.
