Does Google crawl pdf file (URL) contents, as shown in their search engine results, and follow links to the same extent as HTML file contents which is crawled for keywords, links to follow, etc.?

I never noticed how to tell by looking at the results of a simple search whether the links were crawled nor the amount of the content in a pdf file was crawled. Based on your reply, I'll assume there is no difference in the extent of crawling between HTML file and pdf's.

It's just the same like HTML they crawl the text.

I get the distinct impression that most of us think of these crawlers as real human with fickle minds.
