No in my experience, Google always finds your site if its worth finding. Infact we dont even bother submitting sites to Google any more (not even sure you still can!).

It can sometimnes take a while for Google to recogniose new domain, but give it time & Google will find your site

nope. we have the opposite, i have noticed this past 2 weeks that every time i made a new post on my blog it just took 2-3min to be cached by Google.

I never had to submit blogs to Google before. Maybe because I always complete the needed procedure before publishing.
