I just read an article yesterday that Google will not count backlinks from directories anymore because people are submitting to directories almost every minute of every day.

If this is the case, then it's time to look for other way of building backlinks.

i would like to see this article as i believe it to be a load of garbage. there are thousands of quality human edited directories out there and google knows the difference between a human edited directory and a spamectory and will still give credit where it is due

I don't know about the article but people has been discussing it in many forums. I haven't removed my weekly practice of submitting to the proper niche directories for my sites.

Might be talking about some changes on Google guidelines, Yahoo Directory was removed from it and some webmasters said directories will become worthless...

No, Google says it will PROBABLY discount backlinks from directories, but it's still not sure.

That's because you still think of directories as "link farms" instead of " submit to which directory would benefit my website and drive relevant visitors"?

I'll give you that: in m most cases, you'll get neither.
