What is Google Dance ?
Please clarify !!!!!!!

Google dance refers to the period of time when Google indices are tuned. This will often cause both a fluctuation in index size as well a significant change in a web site's search result position.

Except it doesn't happen any more.. They stopped that a couple years ago..

The only Google Dance anymore is the one at SES San Jose..

But I have heard from many webmaster that Sandboxing is just a word created by the webmaster itself. It is not at all present in real world.

If this is the case than how a new website, almost 6 months old are into 350 alexa rankings and got huge no of backlinks.

I have one website on the niche of sms and jokes almost one month old. Yahoo and MSN already crawled that website but I am still waiting for the Google robot to crawl.

Guys I need your help in this regard.

The sandbox appeared [ 2004? ] on Valentines day.
New sites had a difficult time to rank.

Google denied that it was caused by a "purposeful" change in their alogirithm, but at the same time expressed pleasure in it's effect.

Certain SEO's found a work around that allowed new sites to break out of the sandbox.

It involved 301'ing older domains to the new domains.

In that period the cost of getting out of the sandbox was as high as 10k.

Today, a new site can rank out of the box, or may languish for months, 301 or not.

You know I've been trying to find the interview where [Matt Cutts I think] talked about how they [Google] discovered the "sandbox effect", because it was all the forums where talking about, and once they knew what created it, decided to keep it.
