I like to have one question relates to article submission. Which way is better in SEO?
1) Should I create 1 article and submit to 100 article directories?
2) Should I create 100 articles and submit to 1 article directory?
Is 1) better than 2) or 2) better than 1)?

I can only speak from my own experience
I don't think submitting to 100 directories actually helps

I tend to focus on the big directories i.e ezinearticles and go articles

Your articles will be picked up by some of the smaller directories from ezinearticles if the articles are well constructed and have useful information

Possibly, but it isn't SEO.

I prefer the other way round.

Write one article and try getting links from related forums / sites and that has helped me grow my content sites to almost 1 million PVs per month.

Can anyone tell me the role of back links? Aren't they part of SEO? Won't you receive the back links from article submissions? So, Is article submission a part of seo?

ANYTHING done off your own pages is marketing and promotion. Advertising in one form or another.

You can only optimise something that you actually control.

Publishing a genuine unique article is advertising and promoting YOURSELF as knowledgeable in a particular field. Having links to your site is promoting and advertising YOUR SITE as somewhere you might find more information on this particular field.

If you had a high street shop and you went out and put some arrows on walls and windows pointing to your shop doorway with the words "[something] available this way" or put up posters with "Get the best [something] at [address]". Would that be improving (optimising) your shop?

Well isn't uniqie article a good way to expand your site? posting a few links(with information purpose only ) isn't optimiseing for your website?

I would suggest writing 10 great articles and submitting them to the top 15-20 article sites.

yah! but my client suggest to push through that!

mostly linkbacks from this article site if any has less weight to se's due to most of the articles sites are not trusted by SEs... better to submit articles to old and trusted ones rather that spending you time to submit it to bunch of article sites...

The idea is YOU are supposed to ADVISE the clients on what needs doing.

IF all you are doing is what the "client" tells you to do, you are NOT a SEO/SEM consultant/provider.
You are merely a hired hand doing the menial tasks such as forum posting for sig links etc.

Write 100 articles and host them on YOUR site.

Why give your content to someone else?
You wrote it, you should get the benefit of it.
Article sites do zilch for your search traffic and will give you a tiny trickle of referral traffic. Those articles WILL help the article site get traffic.

Article sites are basically a scam designed to get people to give away free content so they can make money from ads.
