Each search engine has their own criteria for counting backlinks. Google is famous for not showing all the backlinks pointing to your site (until recent they only showed PR4 and above) where as Yahoo seems to always show more.
Just worry about the quality of sites that you link with. Keep it on theame and you will do well. Remember that although Google may not show all links it may still know about the ones that are not showing.
