hi,
I have a half an year website and i was wondering if the age matters so much because some of my friend tell me that a website must have at least one year to reach #1 on google; other agree that this is taken into consideration but isn't so important.

Your friend needs help..
The reason that 'old' websites look like they have an advantage in the rankings is because they have had all that time to gather links, produce content, etc etc etc.. Their age is not why they rank, it what they did while getting old..
And yes, new websites can rank #1 just as easily as old websites..

I read somewhere that the age of your domains sometimes can effect your ranking on Google. Likfe if you have a old domain it could be higher ranked.
Don't know if this is true though...

Yep. As far as I know, Google gives some importance or considerations to websites with old domain age but NEW websites or websites with young domain age can also rank #1 in a SERP (search engine results page).

The age of your domain is an important factor which can increase your Page Rank as well. There are several domains which are 5-6 years old and have higher rankings as compared to any other website within the same business category. Search Engines also rely on the history of your domain to detect any SPAM activity.

I am constantly amazed at how many people don't read, think, and comprehend the most basic of things..

In testing, I was able to have a page reach the first position for my desired (but not very competitive keyword) in about 10 minutes and I had 9 of the top 10 positions in two days. I deleted those pages and I don't think I would use some of the methods I tested in real life, but age definitely doesn't matter.

it depends on the keywords, if you use non competitive keywords its so easy to get on top 1. Age doesn't really matter but authority does. . . If google trust your site base on its content, back links and how the users see your site they might give you big points to that.

Yes, Website Age is most important for Google.
Stay online for more than 2 years and you will be off to a good start. The benefits your site will gain with age are tremendous. A key benefit is that the search engines will trust your site better, hopefully, meaning faster indexing of new content. That alone could be the difference in success or not.

Greetings Readers,
I think you need to search for more knowledgeable friends. I hope you don't believe the nonsense they tell you. The more backlinks you have the more it can help your website. Answer: Yes. Having an older website will allow for you to build up the backlinks and network with more people. Keep in mind you need to keep your website up to date. You can have a website that's 3 or plus years old doesn't mean it will be #1 on Google. Also, having your website properly linked is a key element. If you have pages linked on your website that are going to a 404 page this will hurt your pagerank.

I think most of us know that pages going to a 404 black hole are not going to help.
I believe you are wrong when you say "the more backlinks you have the more it can help your website" - it depends where the backlinks are.
But more to the point, what has your post got to do with this thread?! We are discussing the age of a website and that's all. How many backlinks you have does not depend solely on how long your site has been up - you could have put it up 2 weeks ago and devoted every waking hour to gathering (probably low quality) backlinks, or you could have a site from 1996 which you made in crappy html and no css and that nobody ever looks at (not even you), let alone links to.

All depends on quality back links you have to your domain.. Old domains usually have good back links if the site is optimized well. Otherwise, it wont make a difference
