I've noticed that my page fail from the 1st spot on the 5th page to the 1st spot on the 6th page of Google for a certain key word I'm trying to rank for. I was wondering if this happened because a lot of the anchor text links that the search engine has indexed me for were the same as far as keywords? And would I need to go back and change those anchor text links to something different?

Yes I have heard that many people who end up on the 5th page happened to have lack of link anchor text variety. I think it would be a good idea to go back and try to change some of those links. It likely won't be enough to get off the 5th page, but it is worth a try. I'm thinking it might take a while for Google to notice the link anchor text changing and make any ranking adjustments.

It's a load of bollocks rubbish. With Google, getting more links with the same anchor text can actually BOOST the rankings for that phrase of the page the links point to!
How do you think "Google Bombing" has the dramatic effect it often does.

Well....If that is not the reason why I fail back Chris, do you have any idea of what it posibbly could have been? I also changed some of the content on my page. Could that have had an effect?

The thing that so many people forget is that they don't work in a vacume.. While you are trying to rank for your keywords so is everyone else.. Its possible that 10 people simply worked harder than you did for those phrases..

It's also possible that you spread yourself too thin and have too many keywords that you are trying to rank for with a single page..

All that said, without a URL and some more information, it would be impossible to give you much more than a vague answer..

As far as having too many key words I'm trying to rank for....I've only chose one set of keywords which I'm chosing to prusue. I've placed those keywords everywhere in anchor text link, so I know that others that have a higher ranking didn't work harder than me because I've check there backlinks and mine are of more quality and quantity. Plus, their backlinks have stayed the same while mines have grew in numbers and quality.

Backlinks are not the only ranking factor.. Are you sure that your links have more 'quality' than theirs?? By who's standard??

Like I said, no way to help without knowing what you are up against so any advice at all would be guessing..

there are three possibilities when you edit a page to improve it;

1: Nothing at all will happen.

2: It will improve the page positively.

3: It will "improve" the page negatively.

I agree with you. Maybe that is the google 4 pages fallen punish.

I would say it mostly comes down competition, others going for that keyword as well.. Try using variations of the keyword as well as building your site bigger.. more pages related to that keyword...

Why is it that you believe this FUD rubbish?
FUD = Fear, Uncertainty & Doubt if you didn't know.

Because a "penalty" effect for links with the "Same Anchor Text" and the #1 result effect for links with the "Same Anchor Text" (Google Bombing) simply cannot exist in the same algorithm.

Google ISN'T looking to "punish" anybody who is trying to do the best for their site. The "same anchor text" being used "problem", is more likely the usual mixing up of cause and effect.

I think some one is competing for that keyword

Its just a fluctuation, its not a big drop it will be back. . . if you change your target keyword it will certainly drop cause you don't have your focus on that keyword.

Nothing behind it...page 5 is not a stabled positin and also moving to one page back is noremel and its always happening...will be issue while move From first page to 5 th page ....

Another possibility is that, your competitors are doing well enough than you. Is it a very competitive niche? If that is so, it is just a normal situation I guess.

Yes it is a very competitive niche. But I realize that it is no biggie because now I'm on the third page after failing back and forth from page to page.
