i heard that google is competing with microsoft in OS too.
i dont know whether this info has released longback but i came to know few days back
any idea what will be the specifications of the OS
and also i heard that it is going to bring some revolutionary changes in the world of OS

Don't feel bad, I didn't know anything about it either. I suspect it will be a very difficult market to break into, but with Ubantu able to make its mark, it isn't impossible.

I doubt Google is going to release an O/S anytime soon. Their one big opening was in the midst of people complaining about Windows Vista. Now that is passing and Google may have missed their window.

Based on the coding quality of their web browser and cell phone, I don't think a Google O/S would be good enough. It would be so full of security loopholes. They would essentially be where windows was 10 years ago. As much as Google would love to use an O/S to expand their market reach, I think it will be at least a few years before they launch anything.

I have a doubt too . . . they can't release new projects right now. I think they are more up to something.

Thinking about that OS in said five years release target, just like other Google products/services/release (like Knol, Google Friends, Chrome etc.) which taking much time before people use them regularly but still not as priority, Google OS might be competing a lot too.

I'm stunned at Google. They should have got their arses in gear over this ages ago. Still, better late than never. Fingers crossed for Google O.S., eh? Taking bets, who reckons 2012 is the year they'll launch?

It's interesting to suggest that they'll develop a custom Linux OS for themselves, and that is realistic, but it's not really their style: it's not a true Google-brand OS then, is it? I suspect that if Google release an O.S. it will be something quite new, as far as O.S.'s go. Just my guess.

I'm excited to see and hear more about Googles OS. Pretty much anything Google comes out with I find useful. Be prepared I think Google is going to turn some heads.

Seems to me that they are planning for long term. 5 Years planning thats quite good and I want to see whether they are moving in this direction or not.

I also want to know what is the response to Google Chrome ?

A Google OS would be interesting, just another way for Google to dominate the market. :P
