Google’s removed certain pages only?

I run a news website for the RC Car hobby, each day I publish about 5 new pages of fresh content (details about race meetings, new products ext) which is often listed on Google the very same day.

However every now and again I have noticed that Google removes several of my pages from the search results. For example the day after I published news about a particular new product, Google listed my site first for the results of the key words used to describe that product, however today that page is no longer listed at all. But as far as I know I am not banned from Google as I still have 1,420 pages indexed.

Following this several recent news posts (pages) haven’t been getting indexed and some aren’t where I would expect them in terms of results compared with my other pages.

I have a Google page rank of 3 and the number of indexed pages is slowly going down, now at 1,400.

In short I was hoping anyone could provide me with any information about this problem and how I could go around resolving it.

Thanks in advance.

Perhaps those removed pages are actually ending up in Google's supplemental index due to low PageRank. You may want to work at building more backlinks to prevent this. Another possibility is that sometimes when you search Google you might be accessing different data centers. So one day you might get one set of rankings and the next day another set. In time rankings usually stabilize. For important pages it is probably worth building some quality backlinks linked directly to those inner pages.

Also, probably just like new sites which take attentions on Google bots, show/boost up on results and then dropped after few days/weeks, your pages might be experiencing too. Like Jeremy said, they might need some backlinks too.

Maybe one of your enemies works for google, lol. Just kidding, I read that a good way to maintain a site’s ranking was ideed the backlinks, you could work on that.

It is common so dont worry about that. Google likes to hide some of our pages and backlinks. They are afraid of SEO manipulation.

Google does that from time to time. There have been days with my forum looses 100,000 indexed pages from google. A few days later, maybe a week later and the lost pages are back.

Its nothing to worry about.

Yeah, Kev's right. Google do that. But you have to check if it continues to remove pages from the index. I hope yours will not end up like my blog. :-)

This is normal from Google and also each time Google not indexing all the site. And also will take time to index all the pages.
