Are Spam Blog Review Hurt Your Rank?

I alway wonder if spam blog review can hurt my sites rank.

For example: if someone else, may be a rival, keep post spam blog anywhere and everyday for one month and link to my home page with keyword “seo” , my site’s rank of the keyword seo ’s searchresult will disappear or drop down several pages?

I think by myself that it will get two possible results

first one is : google or other search engine treat my site as spam or have spam activity and drop down my site’s rank.

the second one is: search engine ignore all the suspected spam backlinks and treat my site as nothing happened or more seriors ignore all the new added backlinks for the whole time being?

Who can tell me which one will google deal with my sites in this case.

I would NEVER link to a spam website.

In regards to google rankings if you review them, i dont think you would have a problem.

Also why would you ever want to review spam websites. Chances are you will end up getting spammed yourself

If you know or aware that a website is a spam one, avoid linking to it. Yes, it might be qite easier to put links there, but once it get penalized, you might be penalized, too.

Yup it would just ignore the links and not credit your site with them, you wouldnt get penalised for exactly the situation you have pointed out, someome could spam lots of sites with your link and get you penalised.

Lots of people out there like to use words penalised far too easy, if you stick to the rules and use common sense its actually quite difficult to get penalised !

avoid linking to spam sites. Google cannot blame us if we got dodgy backlinks, I assume our competitors are trying to find out the secrets of our success, and if they can't find it you can't take away the idea that probably some of them build dodgy links to our site to get us in trouble, but in this case we can't also blame G if it affects our website's reputation. What's the best thing to do here is just to continue getting good quality backlinks. avoid spam blogs/websites.

Yeah i agree search engines do not harm in any way for links in to your site from bad neighbourhoods..
And if you run a blog use nofollow on links in comments if you wish to link if you are unsure about the site..

Did you actually read what anyone else wrote ? how exactly are you going to avoid dodgy spam sites and dodgy blogs, if someone else a competator put ur link there and not you ?

The answer is you cant unless you can somehow control everyone on the net who posts a link, therefore ur answer is falwed in logic !

I think if the spam blog is linking to YOUR blog. There's no case. But if you're the one linking to the spam blog, it's bad...(???)
