Hi guys, I use to have an information website and I have built up to 25 pages before I stopped writing content due to other commitments. So I lost the website with the domain in September 2008. Now I have registered another domain and I want to start again. I have written a few more pages of content that I want to add to the other contents.

Now my question is will the SEs especially Google view this as duplicate content? And if yes how can I address this issue since I really put in some efforts in writing this content and they are very suitable for my niche. When they were up about half of those pages appeared in the first and second pages for their respective keywords.

Your advice are appreciated.

1. See the thread here about the myth of duplicate content.

2. If it is no longer online it can't be duplicate even if 1 above is wrong.

3. I uploaded some old content from my very first site ever to help another poster. Never linked to it on the site where I uploaded it. Never promoted it and it wound up with a #1 rating for a couple of search terms.

I would drop the link but that site was FrontPage and I at the worst.

I suggest to redirect the old site so that you don't need to create another one, also redesign the site to the layout that you want, google will see it duplicate if you make another site using same content.

Thank you guys for your response. I have been googling "duplicate content" and coming up with diverse opinions. Full House the problem with redirecting is that I lost the domain. When it expired someone else grabbed the domain name. So I came up with a new domain name.

Thanks for your comments.

Remove it on the Google Index. So it won't be treated as a duplicate content.

You should write that content in some different way and different style. It will be new for search engines and users as well.

Even its not online, feel its duplicate content. Better if u can make new domain as sub of old and point to the same site. or make little changes of the article then submit ...

And if it is NOT online anywhere there is absolutely no way it could be "duplicate"

Hi,

I think you can rewrite your old content, if you think that it can be treated as duplicate content by SEs.

But if you site not online and pages are removed from index then, you SEs will not count it as duplicate.

Thanks
Alex

Hi,

You can make a 301 redirect from old pages to new pages, and then they will be considered as same page by google.

I don't think so it will do your site any harm since the site is not online and issue of duplicacy cannot arise.

However, to be on the safe side it is better to do some minutely changes in the your content to avoid any kind of risks.

You should use .htaccess file to redirect your old site to the new one. By doing so, all respects will go towards the new site as a heritage and google will not perceive the two links as duplicate.

If the case is the old website will have new content, that will be beneficial.... But if old content in new website... That will be duplication of content... Your content will lost its value. You better make NEW content for your new website.
