Just want to know, do you guys use Google analytics to tracks the log from websites ? I use it before, but Google analytics slow down load time of my site a little bit. so I remove it.

Which one effective for you , Google analytics or Cpanel log ( Awstat , webalizer , analog stats ect ) ?

But the analytics code goes right at the end of the page code so any delay in loading it doesn't affect the user too much.

I use Google Analytics.

Analytics works fine. It should not slow down your webpage that much. Maybe if you have a really slow internet connection.

Google Analytics is a great tool, but every web server keeps complete access logs. Additional page tracking is not necessary, and is needless overhead on page load times. The reason why it might slow down loading a page, is because you have to load the Google script first, then the rest of the content. If you have javascript turned off, you might also have inaccurate stats, also the most popular Firefox addons or Opera filters, which block ads, block google analytics services as well, so you might miss some visitors again.
Using AwStats or other tools, which are based on server logs are absolutely enough for me.

The js code goes just before the </body> tag, making it almost the very last thing to be loaded on the page.

As for js being turned off, w3schools estimate that users with it disabled amount to 5%. If you're using your traffic stats in a comparative way (e.g. how well am I doing compared to last month) it won't matter, and if you want more more accurate stats I guess you could calculate a better aproximation to your traffic usng that 5% 'error'.

Server logs don't give you the rich reporting capabilities that GA has (that wasn't meant to sound so sales-pitchy! )

Yes, I use Google analytics to track all of my sites. I have tried "other" tracking software, but so far Google analytics has been the best.

Well I guess it wouldn't hurt to have both right? Just to have a comparison of the stats that you get. I personally use Google Analytics and awstats.
