I setup a site for a friend recently, I had a bit of a read about meta tags & how to get google to index a site & that kind of thing. My problem is that when I search for the site using "kildare allotments" the .swf file is returned rather than the actual website. Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can get the link to the site to return higher than the flash?

Give it 5 or 6 months and some promotion.

Allot more time in your linkbuilding activities. That's the only way to rank your site with your target kw.

Well, get more focus on building your links. Try to find relevant site to get some good inbound links. And don't forget to point it on your home page or landing page.

Nope, get links to the most appropriate page

needs more site promotion, it might take 2 or more months to see the website and not only the .swf from it... why don't you promote it on social media sites...

What do you mean? Correct me if i am wrong. To rank my site in goole i need to link to a related site , so is this also a form of link trading?

This is new. Usually the .swf are not indexed, but pages are.
Never happened to me. You said that you read about meta tags, so I suppose that they are OK, you did not use noindex .
robots.txt is OK?
server problems lately?
What else could be?
Anyway, deep linking from relevant sites will help indexing pages.

flash is not good for SEO.
