i got the day before yesterday a keyword #6 on google, when i did keyword research on wordtracker, it said the search volume is 1500 daily. but i got the same traffic as when the keyword was on the second page, anyone can tell me what the problem is?
btw, when i use seobook, it said the search volume is 2500, really confused.

Both wordtracker and seobook (which uses wordtracker data) have poor accuracy. You would be better off checking Google's keyword tool or a paid keyword tool like keyword discovery.

Unfortunately a #6 ranking won't generate much traffic unless the keyword gets a high search volume. The top 3 sites get most of the clicks. Then depending on how good those top 3 sites are, the lower ranked sites may also get a bit of traffic.

Another thing to consider is that you might only have that #6 ranking in one Google data center. Since Google uses geotargeting, you may have different rankings when you search from different locations.

There is also the chance that your title and/or meta description is not strong enough to get a very good click through rate.

it seems kind of complicated, now my rankings are falling, one keyword dropped from first page, and a big drop in traffic too. too bad.

Software which you are using are showing proper results or not. Check their quality with the help of some queries

1500 searches are not good enough to get the traffic from a search engine unless and until you are in top 3.

So target for those keywords which have 5000 - 7500 search queries.

you are right there daisy33. it's better to work on keywords that have higher searches in the search engines. work on these first.

The only way to get the best traffic possible is to be #1 in your target keyword. Allot more time in your linkbuilding activities. Be patient. In your keyword selection, only rely to Google keyword suggestion tool, it's the most accurate tool out there.

If you don't see any improvements on your site's organic traffic despite the fact that your keyword ranks in top 6, I think you should need more getting quality backlinks to increase its ranking to top 5 higher.

Another good way to do is to focus more targeting on those keywords that do give benefit on your site in terms of providing organic traffic. IMO, it will be more valuable for your site if you choose the RIGHT keywords that are effective for your site and not the best keywords.

ok so it means that you got better backlinks.for getting more traffic you need social bookmarking in High page ranked nofollow website you can also use dofollow.write description by yourself that may b also a good reason to get traffic.

Also, if you don't update your site with new content, you may find your page rank slipping.

The amount of searches maybe down. Just keep link building and adding content and your adsense will improve.

ya, you surely want to be in the top 3 results like others have stated. Just being on the first page does not necessarily mean much.

Yes certain niches it can mean a lot but others it does not.

I would also use the adwords keyword tool and make sure that you have it on EXACT matches , not Broad or phrase. This tends to fool a lot of newer people.

You can find out the competition by simply typing the keyword in google, see how many results google is showing, also see the number of PPC Campaign, higher the PPC Campaign on a particular keyword more it is popular.

It seems to me that your site on which keyword is ranking doesnot have much competition.
