Getting Listed Internationally

Hi:

I'm very much a novice when it comes to building a site and SEO.

I recently got an email, the sender of which told me that my site doesn't show up on google in other countries (I'm in the US). They offer to get it listed for $500 per country.

Now, that's way out of my price-range, but it got me to wondering. Is getting listed on other countries searches that much work so as to make $500 reasonable? Or is it something so simple that a novice could do it?

Thank you,

Jon

IceMemory, you should know that submitting your site to the major search engines is not necessary. They can find your website on their own provided that you have some quality backlinks. Just submitting your site won't get you rankings either.

sierranomad, it does sound like this person is trying to rip you off. Be very wary of any unsolicited spam e-mails like that. They would likely just put your site up on adwords for those countries. To actually get organic search engine rankings in those countries, you need plenty of links from countries that are relevant for that country.

1. I do know what Google, Yahoo, MSN and etc will come by themself.
it's not necessary, but sometimes (then you know nothing about linkng.. and very novice in SEO) that bots will come by to your site after weeks...

2. "They offer to get it listed for $500 per country." Read that he is asking.. TO GET LISTED, and not to get Ranked!
it's a big difference to Charge a guy for Submitting in "other" countries.. then it's actually free.

Thanks IM & J80! I thought it was probably a scam.

So you need links from say, UK websites to get good rankings in the UK?

People are getting shameless nowadays, that's outrageous. What it is a person with the slightest possible knowledge on the matter? It's good you asked, Sierranomad, and good luck with your site.
