Hi, When I'm searching for info on the web, is there any way of knowing how upto date (this century, this year, last century, last year) it is, if there is no last updated date specified. When I search on Google I often see a date with no year does that mean this year? Can I sort results by date (descending)? or filter for sites only updated within the last 12 months for example?

Thanks for any help

David

well, if you install a tool like "tamper datas" for firefox, you can monitor the requests and answer headers.
Sometime, but not always, you can have a "last modified" header that is returned by a server for a given url.
This can give you an advice (but it's not to be trusted absolutely)

This si what I see when asking a random url via stumbleupon:
Request headers
Code:
Host=www.10voltmedia.com
User-Agent=Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.8) Gecko/2009041401 Gentoo Firefox/3.0.8
Accept=text/html,application/xhtml+xml,application/xml;q=0.9,*/*;q=0.8
Accept-Language=en-us,en;q=0.5
Accept-Encoding=gzip,deflate
Accept-Charset=ISO-8859-1,utf-8;q=0.7,*;q=0.7

Answer headers
