hello members, sometimes when i search certain terms, yahoo answers rank extremely well, does anyone know why and how can we take advantage of that? thanks.

by using it and posting answers? You mean, SEO-wise? I'm pretty sure it would just be like posting on a forum: little effect, but if you have nothing else, go for it!

In terms of backlinks, yahoo answers uses nofollow value on their links, so it would not pass PR juice to your page.

well i mean for some competitive keywords, why yahoo answers rank so well? even if it does not pass any pr to you, i would think it do brings you decent traffic if you do not appear on the first page yet, right?

YA is a good place to help others (and thus gain influence), similar to any popular forum.

True, Yahoo Answers are no follow BUT...Yahoo does use their answers in their search results so it is a great way to get indexed in Yahoo.

IMO, aside from the reason that yahoo answers is always updated its content, I think Yahoo Answers do rank in google search results because Google gives a positive effect on a website that links to the right websites.

For example, there's a question about "immigration", then there's someone answers a nice explanation with useful information (quality content) and put a relevant immigration link on his answer. Since the link provided is relevant to the question, Google will give credit on that page by ranking that page on higher ranking position on SERP.

IMO, Google gives importance on certain page that has relevant outbound links that can help visitors or readers. If the page provides useful information about similar topics or offer them with helpful resources to readers, this page has higher value on Google.

Well....I have also seen yahoo answers are like forums........you create profile and post ansers to other's question or ask questions but it not worth so much as i think...

still to consider:
1, yahoo answers is a trusted subdomain of a highly trusted domain: yahoo.com.
2, that question is 2 years old, and that is why it ranks well while others do not .
3, as you said, helpful outbound links, and the sites it linked to are great too.

Yahoo answers is a good place to get targeted traffic, but I don’t think it will pass any PR juice because on nofollow.

Yahoo answers are with nofollow attribute and Google only counts dofollow backlinks.

yahoo answers will get u drive good traffic on ur site and also in yahoo search engine.

Actually this has been a big area for getting customers to your website. It’s a chance to prove you know what you’re talking about. There are many testimonies of how this has been a thriving source of quality leads for many business’s

your link will be nofollow but at least it will help in advertising your site....I guess....

yes thats the only importance and benefit. It drives good visitors. try answering on same niche topics and do not spam around with ur urls there

Yahoo answer don't show as backlink in Google. But, it can drive traffics to your website (provided that you leave your links with your answer.)

Yahoo Answers help in bringing traffic to the site. One or two visitors are definately guaranteed from yahoo answers.

Make sure, you choose that topic which is related to your site theme.

No Follow is a dirty word in my book.

You are right DigitalExtreme, nofollow is a product of search engines.
