Hi, I run golfinlexington.com and so far, if you look up golf in lexington on google, it should be above man o war golf or whatever (If you wanna just vote for it to move up... ) haha.

But really, I've had a few questions for a while... And I feel kind've confused.

1) What are these "backlinks" I keep hearing about? I don't understand what all these things are. I'm not a proffesional google-r. Hahaha

2) How could I improve my keyword searches, and move up in the ranks? I use meta keywords now, and I don't know if they are helping me any or not.

3) Whenever I get google to crawl my site, on every one of my blog posts (Or at least pretty much every one) I get redirect errors. Why do I keep getting these? I looked up redirect errors on google help, but it really didn't help me at all. It only told me basically that I was getting redirect errors.

Those are pretty much all of the questions I have for now. If you wouldn't mind, the redirect errors are really hurting me, because I have ALOT of posts that aren't being indexed, and I need those to get indexed so I can get more visits on different searches.

Backlinks are links to your pages. They're important because search engines see them as 'recommendations' or 'votes'.

Meta keywords will have very little effect on rankings. You should read a beginners guide to SEO.

#3 Could you give us a link to the blog? And where is it telling you that? On your webmaster tools page?

1. Back links are links from other sites that links to your site.
2. You can use some of the tools to check for keywords: Here are some of those tools:

To get an idea just how many links Google says you have coming in to your site (and Google will be the most conservative of all the SE's) type this into Google

Backlinks are links from other sites to yours that are clickable. You can get backlinks by submitting to website directories, posting on social networking websites, using article submission... etc

Try using Google Webmaster Tools and Google Keyword Tools to find out if you are using the correct keywords for your website. They give you the volume of each keyword per month.

I'm not sure, but I do not think this has anything to do with Google. This sounds like it may be a script that is messing up on your page that you may need to look into.

R u checking it by webmaster tool... if so u can find the detail of the error. Also can check the error through webmaster guideline(link from the erro reporting page)

Just a spot of advice - be careful when working with backlinks - mass backlinking can harm your ranking on Google, and/or result in a ban.

Backlinks, especially do follow, will help your site in rankings. The more relevant and quality the backlinks are, the better. Backlinks can be acquire from exchanging links from other sites, social bookmarking, article submission and more.

When gaining backlinks for your site, it is important to have conducted first a keyword research to identify and filter relevant and useful keywords for your site. When linking your site from other sites, it is important to use filtered keywords from your keyword research activity as your anchor text. To google, this is voting. The more links to your site, the more votes. And depending on the keyword used as anchor text, your site will eventually rank on those keywords.

You may use google webmaster for this. Add your site there and your site's sitemap and learn what google has to say and do it's recommendations.
