Hello, new user here, and I have a question about submitting websites to Google. I had a subdomain website on Google for about 3 months that did well in Google rankings, but I recently took it down and bought a domain.

My question is this: How long does it usually take for Google to take down the old website and let the new website take its place? Basically the website is identicle, just now with a domain instead of a subdomain. I realize it can take sometime, but I am unfamiliar to as how long. I also use a free search engine submission service rather then Google themselves to submit my website.

Any help or insight to this would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Google has a few techniques you can use here to maybe help move it off of the first few pages or totally out of the index.

But as you mentioned, it will take a while. For me it took about 6 months.

Hmm. To make the robot.txt file work, does it have to be in your current domain server or the old one? Because I deleted my account with my old hosting service.

I am pretty sure the DNS don't matter. As long as the URL for the page is the same on your new hosting account then it should work.

Can someone else confirm?

Firstly you need to redirect the old sub domain to the new domain using 301 permanent redirect. After that start working for the new domain, it won't take more than 10 days to be listed in Google. I can't make any prediction about the ranking, it totally depends upon how you are working and how much patience you have.

Doing some good and quality link building will make the difference.

This is all very new to me. Can't you just wait until the website disappears itself? Also, when would be a good time to submit the new URL? All traces of the old URL is gone, except for what's on Google.

Yeah and thats very effective way to push your related site traffics.

Why are you want to delete your old domain i think you can use them for your new sites. To inform google about your new site or any modification you can submit your sitemap there.

Thanks

Well I just got frustrated with the hosting service, I could only log-on to re-edit my sit a couple of times a week and I got tired of it. I supposed I could of kept the site up, but I thought it might be spamming since the old and new sites are the same. Only difference now I have a registered domain.

Ok, I have figured out how to use the robots.txt file, I believe. I thought I had removed my old registration at my old hosting service, but it is still there and uploaded the file in my root directary there with the following parameters Google showed in order to help remove the website. Before I had a link to another persons' site when my old site was still going strong, could that also have prevented Google from accepting it? I read their guidelines and decided to remove the link for now, because I am really wanting my website to get on Google.

SImple: Just remove your metadata from your pages you want to remove from google. Also, if you have a server side configuration file such as htaccess, you should also modify that as well.
