What does IE stand for? Internet Explorer?

One of my readers told me that she will send me some information on how to fix the problem.

If that does not work, I'll hire someone.

She told me there are viagra links on my blog (it annoys me that everyone can see the problem but I don't know how to access to see the problem)

Assuming that IE means Internet Explorer, I was able to find my source code.

At the very bottom is a TON.....and I mean TON of viagra ads!

Either the person who created my blog put that garbage on there or I've been hacked.

One of my readers told me she will send me instructions on how to remove them. I'm on Wordpress (the most updated version) so this should not be genius level work here.

200 factors? Unofficially that's what google looks at every website for. I'd regards your blip as just that, a blip.

Thanks again for the IE lead!

I did an internet search which led me to a website that taught me how to go in and delete the viagra spam.

My thought is that the woman who created this blog for me over the summer inserted the ads. There were so many of them it was ridiculous.

Any ideas now how I can get back into Google?

My site is now "verified" by Google and I was able to put in a request for reconsideration.

I also found a note in my Google box informing me that they could see that my site had been compromised by a third party and they even posted a sample spam link. So they were aware that I had been hacked.

They also told me that they were reserving my pages for reinstatement after fixing the problem (which is now fixed).

What an ordeal!

Probably a good example of why it is important to keep up with updates and security patches for what ever software/applications that are being used to build/manage sites.

The commercialy used "Open Source" software is always being carefully scrutinised by "crackers" for any exploitable weak points, fortunately such problems are very quickly fixed and updates released.

I updated to the latest version of Wordpress yesterday. Learned my lessons well. Will probably hire a webmaster to keep my blog secure, as I'm not literate in the workings of blogs.

Also, you were right about me not being banned. Google, in their note to me, did not use the word "ban". Instead, they told me they were temporarily removing my site from their index until I could get the problem with the spam fixed.

Unfortunately I did not see their note until yesterday because it was located in the "verification" section of Google and never came to my email address.

All is well now, though. I should be up and running again within a few weeks.
