After a PR update and you get a higher PR, do your SERPS jump? This is something I have not experienced yet.

What about this? It comes from Google. From what I see in Google results, pages with higher PR are USUALLY ranked before others...

http://www.google.com/corporate/tech.html

Quote:
PageRank Technology: PageRank reflects our view of the importance of web pages by considering more than 500 million variables and 2 billion terms. Pages that we believe are important pages receive a higher PageRank and are more likely to appear at the top of the search results.
Eh, I donno... It's so easily debated. Stupid PageRank...

The PR you see (in the toolbar) is NOT what Google uses when determining result placements, rankings, etc. The toolbar value is a data export of a given moment in time (every three months or whenever, which in return is very slow).

Right, it's not necessarily that PR and SERPS are tied together, but they do of course go in the same direction. I spend more time worrying about SERPS than PR, as rankings are what really matter.

Page rank (PR) is one of the factors that affect SERP.

The ranking algorithm is complicated, a lower page ranked site can actually surpass a higher ranked site.

Page rank is a great determination of websites popularity; however, it won't be the major factor in gaining website traffic.

So I don't even worry about it anymore. It bounces up and down all the time. As long as my traffic is going up that's all that matters.

PR and SERP are too different things. Having GOOD PR doesn't mean having GOOD SERP; and on the other hand, having GOOD SERP doesn't need GOOD PR. PR and SERP calculation are two different formula, both are not know how exactly Google calculate it.

Not exactly, although it is an advantage if you have a higher pr. But do you know that you could actually make it on the top of the serps even without a high pr.

Page Rank (PR) is one of the factors that affect PR. If you have high PR value then you'll have higher chances to get into top rankings.
