Yahoo algorithm loves high keyword density, key words in the meta title (high title density), alt tags, meta tags, meta description, and outbound link text.
Well, if you still cant get to rank in Yahoo but you want traffic from that SE, you can still use their groups and their answers services. I still get good traffic from the communities in the groups and by being helpful in yahoo answers. I have seen a lot of groups that are being spammed though so you better be careful in using both of this sites... There is "no special way" for Yahoo! just build a good site for real people and funnily enough search engines will "like it" as well.

Because of different serch engine alogrithm from google. focus little more on promoting your anchor text as you keyword and have patience.

Well, I don't think there's any specific way to optimize for yahoo. howeve yahoo prefers onpage factors and google off page but I can just by having a proper balance between on page and off age can do better to get rank well on both google as welll as yahoo.
If you are looking to get ranked high in Yahoo.com then try to onpage optimize your website with proper file names and their comparatively related title, description and meta keywords. Do social media optimization and blog posting using you targeted keywords in <A> tags link with link as signature.
I don't know exactly but yahoo likes the old domain name and also it mostly focus on content of site if your site content is good enough than it will help you to get good SERP for yahoo.
