Hey guys,

I have placed analytics and adsense codes on my blog. In the plugin ( I have checked the ip addresses too) it s showing every time minimum ten fifteen users on. But per day impressions on google is just 700+ that in awstat is around 4000+

what is wrong?

Google Analytics uses javascript to record the traffic, most "bots" do NOT trigger javascripts so will NOT be recorded, while your stats package records ALL page requests.

I think they are counting unique visits and not hits.

Even Uniques also its showing very much difference. Yesterday the blog is having 700+ Uniques and 6000+ page views. This odd analytics is showing just a few hundred page views..

It is not "odd" at all. Compare the access times in each system, check the UA that are "missing" chances are you are going to find a large majority is "bot traffic".

Honestly I hate AW stats. That is a waste of traffic data. Stay with analytics. I hate to say this but Google runs the show everywhere.

No its not that..Awstat shows different traffic for bots and Humans..

It can filter off the bots that it "knows" about which may not include ALL the bots that access the site.

If you compare GA with other blogs as well the you will be in a position to understand the differences.

That may be right. But awstat shows around 30% of the bandwidth as bots. So I guess it detects atleast 70% of the bots.. not sure though.

data transfer not bandwidth I would suggest.

Not sure how you get to 70% of bots being identified from bots using 30% of the data.

I don't understand buddy.. Sorry..Could you explain a bit. I was telling that awstat shows 30% of the total data transfer as done by bots. That 's around 3 GB a month. So I was telling that in this 3GB at least 70% of the bots data transfer will be included ( as a reply to your comment that there may be bots that awstat can't find out )

30% of your data transfer was used by the useragents that AWstats can identify as bots that means the other 70% was used by OTHER Useragents which includes browsers, unidentified UAs and UAs that may be bots or other automated traffic but AWStats doesn't identify them as "bots".
AWStats uses a text file called "robots.pm" (a Perl module) to hold the list of UAs that will be identified as "bots"
