Google announce that EVERYBODY, logged in or not will get modified SERPs based on the last 6 months (180 days) of searching.

I am the only one to find this creepy ?
So, if I happen to do a search for "extremes midgets" (totally hypothetical, of course), each next search I'll do will be weighted against those keywords?

At least, knowing this, I'll be able to turn it off.
But god (even if it don't exists) knows what they will do of that information...

On the bright side, this could be the end of the "I dropped 3 places in the serps, how can I get in first place?" threads...

So, if I want to quickly see where my site ranks for search terms I need to find another way (rankchecker etc...). I only this morning realized that being signed in affected the results, now I find out that it will be affected regardless. Thanks Google!

wow, I heard that they were going to do this but forgot. lol in the past I was scoping around the searches for one of my keyword and realized my site jumped up higher like 6 pages . Then I checked my analytics and there was no jump in traffic. Thats when I knew it was personalozed because I clicked on my own site before. lol

Lots of great improvements for google.

Google don't need it. It is the Google users that need it and Google are providing it.

Well Google certainly knows what they are doing. Personally I don't need it, so in most cases I'll be using another SE.

Thanks for the info. I was aware that this happened when signed in but not when not signed in.

I disagree with that, why would the user need the SERP's to be skewed to what they click on, what happened to discovering new and fresh content? Seems to me this does not help the user all the time.

If I am searching for a specific term and find a few sites with what I thought was the info I needed, then later decided they didn't, if I search that term again (even if it is written different) the same sites will come up at the top that I clicked on even if they were not on top before? Makes my search more difficult and doesn't help me find the info I am looking for.

You can filter your results for the last 24 hours, last week etc - I've been using that a lot lately and that works for me

The problem is that we are not the average "Google user"

Google have determined through their tracking and testing that the "averager user" is not looking to discover new things.
This is mostly due to the "man in the street" knowing very little about URIs etc, and repeating a search then clicking to the same result rather than "bookmarking", copying the URI in some way and going straight to the page. I have lost track of the number of times I have seen people open a browser, type Google into the MSN/Bing/Live search box, click on the first result, then start searching because they did not know that they could type www.google.com into the address bar and go there directly. "What's an address bar"? is probably the question I have been asked most!!
These are Google's target users, not the world of webmasters etc.

Ok Chris, that makes more sense and you are correct, the "average user" doesn't completely understand how to make the computer and internet work to their advantage and I can see your point.
