the only effect for PR is the backlinks. google ads are not backlinks. but because of google ads you may have got good visitors and trough them you may have got backlinks

Maybe if Google sees you are paying for a certain keyword they will be like "okay, this website is really about this keyword"

I heard that you can increase your rank and also get more traffic to the site with the help of adwords. Done know what makes it happen like that.

i think adwords is a great tool to use that can help you make your site better.

I don't think it can increase your rank, but if used well can generate a lot of traffic.
