Everyone says that if you get many backlinks in a short span of time then gogle penalise your site. Now i have made 100+ posts on webmaster-talk, so if i add my new site link to my forum signature then google will get so many 100+ backlinks together, so will they penalise my new site for this?

My understanding is that there is no penalty. How do you expect sites and web pages that get in the news and stuff that goes viral?

In Google's eyes, it's only one backlink from webmaster-talk.com.

Google treats multiples links under the same domain as only 1 backlink from the specified domain, however if you go spamming 100+ sites for backlinks everyday it might become a problem between you and Google.

Says who???
It's probably just another piece of self contradictory nonsense. Very likely from the same idiots who claim having footer links on a site will get penalised.

This is totally untrue.......

If this was the case, I could get 100 crap links a day pointing to my two main competitors websites to hurt there sites and "create a problem between them and Google"..........

Links pointing to a site doesn't affect it in regards to being penalized. It's what the specific site is linking out to that matters.

Because Google can detect if you're trying to destroy your competition, it's called monopoly and Google prevents competitors from doing it to each other.

it might become
Now let's be REALLY patronising and explain the meaning of "it might".

It means (in this context) possibly.

Not "it will".
Not "definitely" or "going to be"

AS usual many people are showing how little they understand about search and Search engines.

IF all or the majority of your linking is low quality sig link, "blog" comment spam, "social media" link dropping THEN you should expect at sometime this footprint is going to be detected and the links pointing to a particular hostname could be devauled or wiped out totally.

Search Engines and Google in particular have become very adept at identifying links that are there purely to subvert their algorithm and then making sure they don't.

On the "bowling competitors"

All you will do (in the short term at least) is get the "competition" traffic and/or "value" from the links you are placing "on their behalf".

Hi there

If you think about this problem from a common sense point of view, it wouldnt make sense for google to penalise someones site for this anyway.

If you created a new site and it was so good it was all over the news, take twitter for example, then it would gather thousands of links, people putting twitter in their sigs etc, do they ever get penalised ? never, do they get sandboxed (if it actually exists lol) nope.

Its just something spread by people who dont get the results they want, so they insist their must be some kind of conspiricy theory, and google are stoppin their site from being as good as they think it is lol !

i guess google themself won't be able to categorize your site as spam if you do 100 links a day..
however, i believe "every" website is being reviewed by people to see whether they are doing spamming activities on the net..

if you're doing blogwalking with the same wording like : "hey.. thanks, mate.. i like your post.. you can see some useful stuff here too.." with your site url, then you might be marked as spam by other people... especially the blog of website owners you're spamming...

Devalued links = yes

Google Backlink Penalty = No

To many people get the two confused thinking they have a penalty when they lose pr or there ranking drop in the serps, and it’s down to their links being devalued.........
