Hello all,

I am in the process of building my first website (information website) and I have a question related to SEO. I have read that it may be best to hold off putting up google adds and affiliate links for a while as google will rank not for profit websites better than for profit websites. The author recommended waiting untill you have achieved a good ranking before monetizing the website.

What do you guys think? Is there any truth behind this?

that's right. you can't have a google page rank if you have sites promoting earning online.

you can monetize your blogs in many different ways. either through google adsense, reviews, etc...

I do not understand why Google will rank their Adsense sites less than sites without a ads?
Adsense is Google's income so sure they must promote their partners!!!

You can monetize, and it will not effect SEO, SERP's, etc.

Because you do plan to include ads, I would suggest building your site with ad placement in mind, so research the best ad placements before building. Also research the ad network(s) you want to use to see what ad sizes will fit best. Besure to read the ad networks Terms of Service, because not all networks allow other network ads on the same page/site. Good luck!

You can do whatever you want, but depending on what you are writing about, until you have SIGNIFICANT search traffic, the ads will not perform for you.

I have found it much easier to offer real products on newer sites where I am able to make more money per sale.

I have heard that for a site to really take off and be profitable the average monthly traffic should be around 4K. Untill you are in this realm, or even half way there you most likely won't see much income but by all means monitize that site!

I've just had ONE visitor to a site this morning that has spent more money in ONE purchase than the entire monthly cost of running the site! (and that includes stock, electricity, premises, staff, shipping materials etc...)

Traffic numbers are irrelevant to making money as long as the traffic is targeted...

I heard different. If we have an adsense account we can put it on our website. I don't think it has any effect in traffic as long as we are not violating any google webmaster guidelines.

I don't think google will rank non profit site better. At least my site ranked better after putting on ads.

I think no priority at all, Adsense or no Adsense is evaluated in the same search engine. You want to make Adsense effective, your position must be high, most traffic, click more>>> similar to the position you have high traffic but no more revenue from Adsense, but sales of services by you.

As i understood you didn't mean it true. Google wil not rank websites which are non profit in higher positions. Also its not important that you have or not have ads on your website.
