I am considering an aggressive backlinking strategy that will create a great number of links to my site. The strategy works by other sites syndicating the links I create manually - the final result is thousands of backlinks to my site over a couple of months.

I've got OK rankings in Google for some of the keywords I am shooting for. I've heard a few times that if you get too many links, too fast, that Google and other SE will penalize you or ban you altogether. I was wondering if anyone had any insignts into this or had any suggestions as to how many links to shoot for over a period of time. Thank you for any suggestions.

What program are you using to syndicate these articles from your sit if you don't mind me asking?

I know there is no 'penalty' for duplicate content but in a way I'd be slightly concerned that some of these sites which use my content might rank above me and get visitors for search terms which my article would have otherwise got.

I think too much is those links that is impossible to do in one day, normally we can only do about 50 + links in one day. If you make 200 - 500 per day that is not normal.

Consider quality over quantity. 250 links could beat 5000 if you choose wisely.

Marlene couldn't have said it better, quality is what you are after with backlinks. If you have a site on computer speakers, and you have backlinks not consisting of this type of product, you will see your time wasted imo.

If you are worried about being "banned" or "penalized" you should consider the tactic you're using. Chances are if you feel it isn't legit, then the search engines will think so too.

I think that it belongs to your domain age. If you have 4 year old domain, you can have much backlinks as you want. But if your domain is only few days or few months anh you have hundreds of backlinks, you may be penalized.

the thing which has been discussed here is over-optimization of your site. As far as the back link is concern it should be kept in mind that try to have minimum links but quality links rather that huge amount of PR-0 links.
Along with this try to have back links from sites of related theme, so that you acts as a store house of a particular category, which is well informative.

Over-optimize? When you are doing something well, can you over-do something well? No. (Sorry for the horrible metaphor it's like 8am in FL, and I'm going on 2 days no sleep!)

For me there's no problem in doing backlinking because link building is part of SEO. You won't have any problem if your doing link building properly and not just spamming.

Lets say you have the only video of Beyonce and Shakira in a lesbian sex romp, you buy a domain, you upload your video, how many 1,000's of inlinks will you get and do you think google will penalise you? Of course they won't.

The mantra on backlink buidling is quality over quantity. If you are planning to get 1000 links a day all of a sudden, there could be only two reasons.

1. You did something so compelling/disgusting/funny that people link to you to share the good/bad/funny news.

2. You are getting links inorganically meaning you will fail to convince the SEs somewhere down the line.

If your site is good enough, links will increase gradually. Don't overdo it. Don't let your greed kill the golden egg laying hen .

Backlinks, the backbone of SEO. But to rank in 1st page of SERP your backbone need to strong enough. Getting too much links is good but as overeating can make us feel bad, causes pain in our stomach, similarly over optimization is bad too.

Rather the best is to have quality links from good sites with a good repo and having interrelated theme as yours.

Lastly i would say that if you can have the fruit by working intelligently then why to work like a donkey. Keep focus on your requirement, make proper plan and move ahead.

If you get more backling so its not spamming activity bse if you get professional backlinks so google give you good preference ranking and traffic.
