Hello to all,

I have a website (www.decorisland.com) that has almost 200,000 pages, but only 30,000 of them are being indexed

I would love to get your input to why this is? and if it's normal or not for large sites?

my sitemap url's (in case you want to see them are)

sitemap1.xml
sitemap2.xml
sitemap3.xml
sitemap4.xml
sitemap5.xml
sitemap6.xml
sitemap7.xml
sitemap8.xml
sitemap9.xml
sitemap10.xml

Hi aaronflo,

It may just be a question of time. Google is always crawling and indexing more pages. If you see your numbers going up slowly then I would not be worry about this and keep doing what you are doing.

XML Sitemaps DO NOT get sites indexed. You need REAL links for that.

And the simple answer is;

Your site simply does NOT have enough "importance" to ensure it gets indexed fully.

Needs time. Even after your site is crawled, it is possible that your pages are still not listed in the search result, because the search servers are different from the index servers. If try IPs from different ISPs or from different location, you get different search result in Google.

Thanks.

Your site has a GTB PR of 1 (mind, Google Tool bar PR is something that you have to take with a pinch of salt the size of Rhodes Island) It's just a pointer ok.

Anyway, Google don't really care to crawl all those category pages unless you have some serious reputation. Put simply, Reputation = Votes = links.

What I can suggest is improve internal linking. First identify the pages that the crawler crawls regularly and build links from those pages to inner pages.

Read this. It might help you a lot to understand the situation. (BTW, I use SEOMOZ stuff only because it makes more sense than most of the SEO resources out there. No Affiliation!)

^Or build more landing pages with deeper links, normally a big dynamic site is doing well to have 2/3rds of it indexed.

I think its a very big site and google can not cache in large quantity. Its take a time to cache whole pages of your site. You start a social bookmarking submission which is helps you in page index.
