so. say I'm an active user on a forum. in my signature I have my sites link...

I know that as your number of backlinks from one site increases the value of each back link is less...

now what if I have like 1000 posts on the forum... is there any point at which the backlinks dont help at all anymore?

Tough call. I think some is better than none. Maybe you could join another forum or 2 that you find interesting or helpful. Instead of 1000 at one a couple hundred at each. But if you like the forum and enjoy participating in the conversations then there is nothing wrong with that either.

If you post on no follow forums you might find more traffic to your site but not more useful backlinks.

However, you still need to post. They make your backlinks look natural and spread word about your business.

Duplicate links that are rolled out too quickly in any form risk being simply filtered out by Google, as far as having an impact on "SERPS" and PR.

The rule of thumb with G is always "natural works best".

As per my knowledge I think there is certain criteria that google follow in forum as backlink. The criteria is been followed as per search engine algorithm.

For me, having a 1000 posts with links in my sigs doesn't mean 1000 sure backlinks for my website. But, a big percentage of my total linked posts might show as backlinks.

I am also very interested in this. Nobody seems to have answered the question though. Does anyone have an educated guess on this?? What number of links from a single website would be the maximum to be considered actual back-links by search engines?

Surely, you will have additional backlinks from the forum, but not all. If you posted 1000, you are not guaranteed to have additional backlinks of 1000.

Hope i can help

These backlinks will surely help... There is no doubt in that. You can't say it will stop helping in SERP.

Tricky question. Though this may not make complete sense I think you should get backlinks from all your posts.

Oddly enough this same question was asked in the Google Seo News and Discussions room on Feb 6th, 2007 and no one responded to it back then. So the question is still unanswered, cause if they don't know, who would?

Of course, the links in forum is useful, but it just a part of the PR by Google, you also need the backlinks from blogs and other websites.

it depends on the popularity of the forum. having 1000 signatures in different forums is more benefit when compared to having 1000 signatures in single forum.

Uha, I see. So, in forum signature link back building, it is more beneficial to have be active in several forums as opposed to having 1000+ post in one. I suppose that is because the link juices are no longer hmm juicy? Am I correct so far?

I also approve this idea that the more forums you participate in, the better is for your "link juice"..
