Google is really pissing me off!

In webmaster tools, Google is showing more and more duplicate content because they are ignoring my 301 redirects!

When I check the HTTP header status of the pages, I get a status 301, then the page that it redirects to get a status 200 OK. So what is wrong with Google???

Can anyone else see an issue with these pages?

http://www.searchbliss.com/seo-tools/default.htm 301 redirects to
http://www.searchbliss.com/seo-tools/ 200 OK

http://www.searchbliss.com/forum/default.asp 301 redirects to
http://www.searchbliss.com/forum/ 200 OK

And now I have forum topics showing as dup content because of twitter with this in the query string: &utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
So I 301 redirected them. For example:
http://www.searchbliss.com/forum/top...medium=twitter

Redirects to
http://www.searchbliss.com/forum/top...?TOPIC_ID=1101

The headers also check out ok, but I'm sure Google will ignore these as well. Is this happening with anyone elses 301's??? Could you please double check the headers incase I'm "seeing things". Thanks!

It takes several months for 301 redirects to update in the SE index.

I understand Chris, but what is perplexing is that they recognized several of them months ago, then stopped. I guess I wait...again. Thanks!

The forum redirects were done 6 months ago, and Google DID recognize them until about a month ago...this is the issue.

Probably a index reversion has occured and some old index data has been loaded into the datacentre you are looking at, it happens occasionally.

I can't see any problems for a inurl: check of the seo-tools folder default.htm, doesn't appear in the results.

We also made a 301 to our two sites, and in less than one week, Google found it and our rankings improved a lot, amazing!!

Speaking of Redirecting issue, I read in an article that whenever you move a URL or a domain name, we are told by Google to use a 301 redirect, if we cannot keep the existing domain or URL. We were also told that a 301 redirect would pass the PageRank. But that is not fully true. Some of the PageRank from the redirected URL will be lost.

From an excert of interview with Matt Cutts:
Quote:
Eric Enge: Let’s say you move from one domain to another and you write yourself a nice little statement that basically instructs the search engine and, any user agent on how to remap from one domain to the other. In a scenario like this, is there some loss in PageRank that can take place simply because the user who originally implemented a link to the site didn't link to it on the new domain? Matt Cutts: That's a good question, and I am not 100 percent sure about the answer. I can certainly see how there could be some loss of PageRank. I am not 100 percent sure whether the crawling and indexing team has implemented that sort of natural PageRank decay, so I will have to go and check on that specific case. (Note: in a follow on email, Matt confirmed that this is in fact the case. There is some loss of PR through a 301).

The FACT IS, Google WAS recognizing them for months, then STOPPED.

I checked Webmaster Tools again today, and Google is starting to except my 301's again...so case closed...for now.

Try different way, use robots.txt file to stop duplicated content from being scrawled.

If you read my last post you'd know that Google is recognizing my 301's again.

Case closed...again.
Thanks.
