Few years ago, some guys did a bad SEO for my site and I got a thousands of bad not relevant backlinks which affects badly my SEO. I'm now trying to contact each webmaster of those sites to remove my link, but it's impossible since they even don't leave a contact, or mail is not working, or site is not updating anymore...

Do you guys have any other solution for this? I would really appreciate your help!

Backlinks are backlinks, just leave them alone. They are probably of little use anyway but you can never tell.
AND pages that link to yours don't "hurt" your pages.

Stop messing about with things you can't change and concentrate on things you can!

Hi chris,

I understand what you're talking about, but i have more than 2500 backlinks with PR0-1 which are completely not related to my site, not contextual and it's hidden in a free counter script :S

I think that is the main reason why google penalized my site

And what is it the effect that make you assume your site is "penalised"?

StatCounter have MILLIONS of links that are "hidden" in a counter script doesn't seem to have been a problem for them.
Same with ExtremeTracking.

Yes, but they are counter site. We're using a free counters to get more links for site which is not related to counter sites.

Few years ago, my site was at the top of engines for all major keywords. Now, we're not in first 100 pages for ANY keyword. We're basically not exist on SE's.

Forget the "related sites" drivel, it's just distracting nonesense.

Things change.

1: Assuming it's the site in your signature, it's in a marketplace the gets more competitive by the day

2: Checking ankings is a waste of time.

I believe you need to work on increasing number of good links instead of deleting bad links.

Improve your site navigation.

how long has the redirect been on the home page? because that won't be helping.

So you redirect your home page and then decide you must be penalised.

If I recall correctly from an older thread of yours, I did say then that you were your own worst enemy where SEs are concerned.

Make fixing the navigation (preferably without changing huge quantities of URI ) a priority.

Concentrate on getting links related to your website rather than removing badlinks.

While you have 15,000 pages, It would surprise me if engines like google just ignore pages that seem similar or duplicates of other pages.

I dont know if its true, But if i was running google, thats what id do. ( probably why im not running google. )

If your site can be damaged by low quality backlinks, then what's to stop someone getting lots of spammy backlinks to a competitor's site and knocking them out of the serps???

The argument I've read is that links TO your site can't damage you; links OUT can.

Not sure if that's true?????

I agree with ServerPoint. Instead wasting your time tracking and deleting BAD links, try to look for good quality link so that it came outnumber your bad backlinks.

You want to remove this backlinks just because you think they are bad. But the SE don't thinks so. What happens you thinks these backlinks made you seo worse?

Although Google most likely doesn't penalize a site for unrelated back links, it has been known to blacklist sites for black hat SEO practices. And submitting a site to thousands of link farms can be seen as black hat SEO by Google. Of course all this (like most other things in the ethereal realm of SEO) is speculation.

It's impossible to get rid of back links to your site, after all you will need to have admin access to those sites to go in there and make changes to them. The only way is to plead with the admins of those sites to take the links down, but like others have said - it's just not worth it especially when we're talking thousands of links.
