Yahoo and several other search engine started first, then google, then bing, etc...
Basically google started a litter later, but now you can see how great google is. But we never know the future, do you think will there be any search engine defeat google later ?

so far nothing beats google, maybe in the future.

I think it will be very difficult at this moment some one defeat Google and in the future too.
But maybe is better like this, for all webmasters this situation, because to seo for different top engines can be more hard job.

anything possible. Bill Gates once said that why would someone need any more than 4MB RAM in the computer? not many museums have a computer with 4MB RAM today.

I think many have beaten google in terms of search and function however google still is the top dog.

Why?
I suppose its just the name that keeps people coming back and people stick to what they know.

Kids are being brought up with google and will probably stick with it.

So yeah, Google has been beaten however in terms of popularity and hits then No, No its hasnt and probably wont be for a while.

You also have to realise that google are not just a search engine.

Its possible that in the future they may become 2nd or even 3rd in the in search market however in terms of other products they still rank very high.

Anything can happen, Bing or Yahoo could put a feature in their search that people like and all of a sudden people would flock to those search engines. The only reason Google is around is because of the people who use it, if the people leave Google is over.

No I think no one can defeat Google.

Wait and see now when Google will enter the television market, people will ask: Will Google defeat Discovery?

I think if yahoo or bing incorporated a search for forums and large sites much like the google one many sites have they could do well, only difference being is they index everything on the site and if people using the site do a search it gives the results, at present google probably has less than 50 percent of all large sites content indexed, imagine if yahoo came to you and you had a large site and they offered to index it all for you if you used there search bar on your site, for a start the savings on cpu for site owners would be great, no one minute waits between searches and other restrictions, just that benifit alone would get most large site owners signed up.

I remember asking myself if AOL would ever stop sending me floppy disks and CDs in the mail. I can't say I remember the last time I got that junk in my mailbox from AOL. So I won't be surprised if googles dominance on how people search for information dies down. When I was growing up we used to look stuff up in encyclopedia's, now kids look stuff up in wikipedias. It seems inevitable that at some point someone will find a way to deliver us the information we want in a whole new way.

Nothing is impossible. We can see in the future.

Currently, Google is facing competition from two sites. One is face book, other is twitter.

If anyone can overpower Google, then it can be social networking sites only.

I think bing and yahoo are working together on something right now.

Google is in the peak of its power now and I believe google will not give up so easy if a stronger competitors appear soon.
